We have been very busy signing new acts and working on new music this year, and one of the acts we have been speaking to for a few years now is the Hot 8 Brass Band. We had some fantastic success with their debut album (featuring the huge cover version of Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing and their own fantastic tunes) with them performing at Glastonbury and throughout Europe, performing on the Culture Show on BBC 2, live on the BBC with Mark Radcliffe and Lauren Laverne, recording with the Basement Jaxx, and playing some major shows.
We are therefore pleased to announce they have re-signed to us for a worldwide physical and digital album deal, and publishing deal with our partner company Full Thought Publishing (see their showreel here).
The Hot 8 are busy working on new tunes, and we have an incredibly special Oscar nominated guerrilla artist lined up for their artwork, it is also nicely timed as they are all over the HBO series Treme (from the makers of that most fantastic TV show The Wire, yeah, you know the one).
They are also back in Europe for the first time in a few years and this is the first announcement of some Irish dates.
Oct 27th – The Village, Dublin
Oct 28th – Bodega, Cork Jazz Festival, Cork
Oct 29th – Bodega, Cork Jazz Festival, Cork
Oct 30th – Bodega, Cork Jazz Festival, Cork
They are also planning further tour dates into 2012 so please contact Futureboogie Agency on joe90@futureboogie.com

We wanted to make a statement to say that our thoughts and love go out to all the labels affected by the fire at the Sony DADC warehouse in Enfield, London this week. Many labels who we admire, work with and respect have been seriously hit by this fire.
For an indie label you have a lot of back catalogue and sell small numbers regularly, those labels who lost stock will never be able to replace some of their catalogue as the demand would be less than the costs of manufacturing a new run. That means that this music will never get manufactured again; a big loss to all of us in the music loving community.
Where you can please support the labels on this list…

“3 Amp Fuse” epitomises the London trio’s knack for fashioning a sound that is both catchy and unusual, and cooks up the perfect pop storm; opening with emphatic kettle drums and a driving bassline topped off with Kathrin deBoer’s bittersweet, world-worn vocals and suspenseful, staccato strings, it builds to a shuddering crescendo in three minutes on the dot.

“Beautiful Trash” is the first big single from the upcoming album, ‘Her 12 Faces’ by Lanu. With radio support from Don Letts (BBC6), Jon Kennedy (XFM), Steve Lamaq (BBC6), Jeremy Sole (KCRW), Nemone (BBC6) and heavy rotation on TripleJ this irresistible outsider pop nugget marks a stylistic point of departure for the prolific musician who is better known as Lance Ferguson, the bandleader and creative force behind acclaimed Australian funk outfit The Bamboos.
Check the video here, buy the limited edition white 7 inch here, and download the digital single here
The song features Megan Washington who has just recently gone Platinum in Australia reaching Number 3 in the Australian Album Chart helping her win two ARIA Awards (the Australian equivalent of Grammy Awards) for Best Female Artist and Breakthrough Artist.
The combination of producer/guitarist Lanu (aka The Bamboos’ band leader Lance Ferguson), with one of Australia’s biggest and brightest new musical stars, Washington, has brought about a distilled dose of modern, kooky catchiness with an edge – think the eclectic, crossover appeal of Little Dragon, Feist, Emiliana Torrini, Charlotte Gainsbourg or Janelle Monae.
You may also recognise Megan Washington from her vocals on The Bamboos’ hit crossover cover of Kings of Leon’s “King Of The Rodeo” back in 2008. Now signed to Universal, Gold-selling singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Washington has just been awarded two major gongs – Best Breakthrough Artist and Best Female Artist – at this year’s ARIAs, (Australia’s top annual awards equivalent to the Brits/Mercury Prize/Grammys). Her debut album of idiosyncratic, dramatic indie pop, ‘I Believe You, Liar’, went Gold and shot to no. 1 in the album charts on its release in her native Australia and she is now poised to top ‘next big thing’ lists in the UK and elsewhere.

Lizzy Parks has been confirmed to play at the British Showcase at the Midem Music Conference in Cannes at the end of January. This is a very prestigious event and there are only 3 or 4 UK acts chosen each year to perform (this year The Guillemots headline) . Previous acts including Amy Winehouse, Newton Faulkner, Mr Hudson and the Library, and our friend Alice Russell.
Belleruche have also been asked to perform at SXSW in Austin, Texas, US. A fantastic event and a pleasure to have Belleruche over for it. We want to thank SXSW and the support of PRS for Music Foundation, UKTI and Arts Council England.
