The “Daily Intake Remix EP” brings a stash of new remixes of tracks from Hint’s acclaimed ‘Daily Intake’ album, care of Darq E Freaker, LPZ, C.O.N.E and Alphabets Heaven; alongside the original version of standout LP cut “Watch The Media”, with a powerful new video that has been premiered on XLR8R and had almost 10,000 YouTube hits in a week.
Released earlier this year on Tru Thoughts, the ‘Daily Intake’ album heralded a switch in style for Hint, with a deep, dirty and bass-heavy party sound that saw the much loved producer running amok through the gamut of UK bass music, West Coast US hip hop and beyond; gaining tastemaker support from Skream & Benga (BBC R1), Mary Anne Hobbs (XFM), John Kennedy (XFM), Tom Ravenscroft (BBC 6Music), Goldierocks (The Selector), Daddy G (Massive Attack), Laurent Garnier, DJ Spinna, Behling & Simpson and Om Unit, to name a few.
“Mucky”, out now, is the second single from the self-titled album by Sleepin’ Giantz – aka Zed Bias, Rodney P and Fallacy, three true giants of UK music. Joining the dots between hip hop, house, grime, dubstep and garage, the album came out earlier this year to major props from the likes of Benji B (BBC R1), MistaJam (1Xtra/R1) Sinden (KISS), DJ Q (1Xtra), The Heatwave (Rinse FM), Clash, Resident Advisor, Q, Fact, XLR8R, and many more.
This single release was announced with an interview on MistaJam’s BBC 1Xtra show and a video launch on SB.TV, on Halloween, tying in with the zombie theme of the video and the underlying staccato grimey menace of the track, which was highlighted in many reviews as one of the standout hits from the album. You can check out the video below
A small slice of the praise so far for Sleepin’ Giantz…

“Three legends on the link up… the tune is ridiculous… I’m a fanboy” MISTAJAM (BBC R1/1XTRA)
“Witty, Cheeky and deftly produced… everything the grime scene has been crying out for “
8/10 – CLASH
“A new template for hip hop, uniting lyrical creativity with more innovative club sounds”
7.5/10 – XLR8R
“Clever, witty rhymes, sick flows and a variety of imaginative beats…everything on offer here is brilliant”
8/10 – DJ MAG
“A high energy blend of various eras of UK bass music” RESIDENTADVISOR
“Love the rumbustious bounce of the new album from Sleepin’ Giantz”
Q RECOMMENDS (by JOEMUGGS)
Kylie Auldist will officially launch her new album ‘Still Life’ in her hometown of Melbourne on Friday 23rd November at the Evelyn Hotel. More information and tickets here.
The third album from Australian soul/funk singer Kylie Auldist is out now. Entitled ‘Still Life’, the new LP sees Auldist singing straight from the heart and telling the stories of her life, exploring themes such as love, loss and the passing of time with an intelligence and depth that only experience can inspire.
By turns wistful, uplifting, poignant and simply smoking hot, ‘Still Life’ is brimful of bright, accessible funk and sultry soul, served up by the velvety voiced diva with a healthy dose of disco inspired boogie. The album was co-written and produced by close collaborator Lance Ferguson (Lanu/The Bamboos), whose versatile production skills – as showcased across his many Lanu and The Bamboos releases – snap into action here with a classy updating of the ‘70s dancefloor sound. Exquisite string and horn arrangements on the record sit amongst emotive piano melodies, driving drums and the strut and snaking groove of Ferguson’s guitar.
Following the announcement of the 10 finalists, we can now confirm the winner is DJ DSK. Listen to the winning remix below which will be released as part of the London Posse album re-issue package in 2013.
Following the release of Wrongtom Meets Deemas J ‘In East London’ on Monday 24th September here is a free track from the album, ‘Riot Ting’.
Praise for ‘In East London’
“Essential listening” 4* MOJO
“Good album, we’ll try and play more from that” Steve Lamacq (BBC 6Music)
“Perfect” 4*Q Magazine
“Brilliant” Cerys Matthews (BBC 6Music)
“That’s a good record right there” Huey Morgan (BBC 6Music)
This release features versions of “Robbing & Cheating”, a track originally written by Haler, which was used in the most recent Armani advert featuring Rhianna. In less than five months the advert has gone on to be Armani’s most successful online commercial ever, having been viewed well over 2.5 million times.
Madd Swans composed, produced and performed this music, programming the drums and keyboards and playing bass and lead guitars. The track incorporates influences from Global Communication’s ambient works, combined with a nod to the beats of hip hop producers such as Just Blaze.
The video for Omar & Zed Bias’ dancefloor smash ‘Dancing’ has just stepped over 1/4 on a million views on YouTube.
If the sun is shining where you are right now then it’s the perfect time to re-visit this classic tune. If it’s not, put your sunglasses and shorts and turn up the heating; it’s time for a summer anthem.

Following much deliberation we are happy to announce the shortlist for the London Posse remix competition. The standard was very high and so to get it down to these tracks was very difficult. Information on the winner soon.
iTunes published their albums of the year so far which includes ‘Look Around The Corner’. We’ve been bowled over by the response to this amazing album, so a big thank you to all who have supported.
‘Look Around The Corner’ is available to buy from iTunes here
It is a great time at the moment here at Tru Thoughts, with loads of support across the radio, media and DJs. From the BBC we have seen Huw Stephens on Radio 1 making us his ‘Label Of Love’, interviewing label boss Robert Luis and playing tunes from across the label; Trevor Nelson on 1Xtra making Zed Bias aka Maddslinky ‘Ledge Of The Week’; Belleruche winning Steve Lamacq’s 6Music Rebel Playlist; plus our releases and artists have been played and featured across shows as diverse as Lauren Laverne, Nick Grimshaw, Steve Lamacq, Skream & Benga, Toddla T, Gemma Cairney, Gilles Peterson, Jamie Cullum and Nihal… to name a few. Other important stations including Rinse FM, XFM, Unity and Monocle 24 have also been providing a great platform. Elsewhere, national radio playlists in Germany, France and Holland have also played host to a number of our singles.
We have also seen The Bamboos release become the biggest selling single on Tru Thoughts to date, with “I Got Burned feat Tim Rogers” flying out in Australia and leading to their album entering the official charts. Amazon made us ‘Label Of The Month’, and iTunes continue to support the music with loads of promotions worldwide. Riz MC has been getting huge amounts of press and radio support (from NME to the Observer) for his music and his starring role in the Ill Manors film by Plan B (who repaid the favour by being on Riz’s last single for us) and of course his upcoming Wu Tang support dates.
A great big haul of stuff for an indie label. Thanks for everyone’s support. It shows that the indie labels can get to people far and wide.
“Kinny Acoustic” is a collection of three stripped back acoustic re-workings of songs from Kinny’s second solo LP, ‘Can’t Kill A Dame With Soul’, which came out in February 2012 on Tru Thoughts. The session was originally recorded for the BBC 6Music Funk & Soul Show, and aired as part of a special feature on Kinny, in April. Bringing a stunning fresh take on the songs, these three versions were met with such a positive response that they are now being released as a single.
