Artist news and new releases for 2007
In the next few months Tru Thoughts and Zebra Traffic are churning out plenty of top notch releases to get you psyched.
First up is the Quantic 12” Sabor, the second single from his fourth solo album ‘Announcement to Answer’. On the single Quantic teams up with Tempo, a Puerto Rican percussionist who has previously worked with Roberto Roena of the legendary Fania All Stars. It is released on 29th January.
Zebra Traffic is pumped about the release of debut album ‘Rup On Zebra’ by Rup (pronounced Roop) on 5th February. This is honest Hip Hop. His finely honed lyrical patterns, unique flow and pre-occupation with the wilderness offers an excitingly unguarded glimpse into the man’s personality.
Jumbonics release their new album ‘Talk To The Animals’ on the 12th February, the album has already had a superb response from club play and DJ’s. The album boasts a blend of styles including disco, funk and hip hop, and look out for the infectious cover of The Strokes’ international hit record ‘Last Nite’.
Lance Ferguson from ‘The Bamboos’ releases his first solo album as Lanu on the 5th March. The album offers future soul and broken beat flavors, forward-thinking production and intuitive jazz sensibility, this longplayer marks a distinct departure from the raw, deep funk sound of Ferguson’s previous project.
Dirty Diggers release their first single ‘The Wannabes’ from their new album on the 5th March. MC’s Pat and Max fuse tight Yorkshire to London to Brighton hip hop beats with candid lyrics. You can watch their new video here and Dirty Diggers will be touring later on this year so watch this space for dates…
