“Fuzz Face” sees the London trio continuing the march towards widespread recognition with a punchy and highly original mix of smouldering vocals, rough, blues-inspired guitar and tough contemporary beats and turntablism. The aesthetically arresting promo video uses a mix of hi and lo tech (the ‘lo’ end involving 4,500 photocopies of the Belleruche members’ faces and various newsagents and copy shops in London’s Bethnal Green) to ‘fuzz’ their faces for an exciting, fresh – and slightly disturbing – visual take on this song, which has garnered huge internet buzz and acclaim including a premiere on The Arts Desk and over 10,000 YouTube views in its first week.
Since the release of ‘270 Stories’ on 11th October, Belleruche have completed a UK headline tour and featured in Notion Magazine, Clash, Music Week, Mixmag and more, with some reviewers drawing comparisons between Belleruche’s striking, stripped back yet accessible sound and that of the XX. The album and last single “Clockwatching” have seen support on daytime and tastemaker radio across BBC 6 Music, XFM, The Selector, Ministry of Sound, NME Radio, BBC Radio 4 and more, with live appearances including a performance on Radio 4’s Loose Ends with Clive Anderson, a session on the 6 Music Funk & Soul Show with Craig Charles and a live interview with Nemone on the 6 Music lunchtime show. In true testament to their wide appeal, they also made their acting debut in BBC Switch’s teen soap, ‘The Cut’.
As well as the lead track, the “Fuzz Face” single also includes an essential, brand new and exclusive remix, by current up-and-comer Kidkanevil, of the classic Belleruche track “Backyard”.
