‘Humankind’ was the first single from Alice Russell’s second solo LP, ‘My Favourite Letters’.
The album was co-written and produced by TM Juke, who brings his musical midas-touch to Alice’s gifted vocals throughout.
The twelve tracks on ‘My Favourite Letters’ make up a kaleidoscopic vision of soul music history, with tracks that draw on gospel, jazz, northern soul, broken beat, electronica and funk for inspiration.
‘Humankind’ is an arresting and extremely funky fusion of hip hop and tango.
On the flipside we have an acoustic version another album track, ‘Mean To Me’, which is exclusive to this single.
