French producer Boub remixes a classic from the Alice Russell back catalogue on this very special 7” single.
The Boub remix of ‘Hurry On Now’ marries Alice’s A Capella with a head-nodding, hip-swinging 80s-inspired reggae number; complete with pulsing bassline, carnivalesque keys and those inimitable vintage electro-tom drum sounds.
Neither Alice nor the good folks at Tru Thoughts HQ knew what was happening across the Channel until label A&R Robert Luis received the finished version in the mail, just days before ‘Under The Munka Moon II’ was due to be approved for manufacture.
Everyone was so impressed with the Frenchman’s handiwork that his track became a last minute addition to the album, and a very popular one at that – so much so that Rob and Alice decided to give it an airing on vinyl.
Inspired by the lo-fi aesthetic of the classic reggae 45s, this strictly limited edition 7” single came backed by an exclusive dub version of the title track and packaged in a white paper sleeve, with ‘no-frills’ label artwork.
