The Shark EP
Following the successful debut release of his debut album ‘Animal Magic’, Bonobo dropped a brand new track, backed by three remixes.
‘The Shark’ finds the monkey man taking a markedly different direction; tackling the dancefloor directly with a fast and funky cinematic feel.
The trademark Bonobo musical style is still evident, but this song sees him move away from the narrowly-defined ‘downtempo’ and ‘chill out’ genres, emphasising Simon’s wide palette of musical abilities.
Elsewhere we have three remixes of tracks that first appeared on ‘Animal Magic’.
Quantic steps up first, adding sharp jazzy beats and a gloriously off-kilter guitar line to the haunting vocals of ‘The Plug’.
Next up, ‘Dinosaurs’ is attacked by Jon Kennedy. Stockport’s funky drummer keeps with the theme of the original, allowing stomping beats to collide with the bassline and strings.
The EP is completed by a mix from Sonorous Star.
