The last Bonobo single released by Tru Thoughts before Simon Green signed to Ninja Tune in early 2002.
This version of ‘Kota’ was a new recording for the 7”. An instant favourite with fans across the world, it was adopted by British Telecom for a national advertising campaign, before going on to appear on countless compilation albums.
On the flip, Simon drops a cover version the Quantic Soul Orchestra’s funk bomb ‘Super 8’. True to form, he makes the track his own, transforming Will Holland’s raw breakbeat 7” into a classic downtempo affair.
The Bonobo version of ‘Super 8’ appears on the Tru Thoughts compilation ‘When Shapes Join Together 2’.
