Jon Kennedy was introduced to the label by Mr Scruff, who also hails from his home town of Stockport, after the tea-drinking disc jockey played us some of Jon’s tasty dubplates.
‘Tell Me How You Feel’ opens with a focused break-beat, adds a guitar lick, and then seeps into a haunting blues vocal.
‘What About Stars’ is an uptempo number with Jon playing live bass; halfway through, the track drops down a notch, and settles into a gentle stroll.
With ‘Encounters of the 7th Kind’ comes some atmospheric Rhodes and beats, where the delicate vocals wander around the track, almost as if exploring a new found home.
Remixing ‘Tell Me How You Feel’ is the magicman Bonobo who puts in a fat beat and adds his own trademark style to the track.
