Limited edition 7” single from Nathaniel Pearn.
After a deceptively mellow intro, ‘Raise The Game’ launches into a flurry of punchy horns, flutes and tambourines before tossing in a little sub bass and some tasty sustained chords.
The skittering hook, born up on a tide of clattering congas, cowbells, whoops and assorted percussion, takes a fleeting half-time drum-break before rushes headlong into the fray once more.
On the flip, ‘The Movement’ starts off in a more laid back style. The lolloping rhythm section and lazy horn stabs eventually give way to a delicate and reflective guitar section before coming full-circle and dropping the original break.
