The Goat 7"
Kicking off with furious block-rocking drums and a bassline that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, ‘The Goat’ is a party tune that picks up where Nostalgia 77’s first single left off.
The catchy groove, horn stabs and timbale rolls make for a tune that is simultaneously sinister and sun drenched – like a Mexican bandito enjoying a crisp cerveza in the shade of a watering hole.
On the flipside, ‘The Messenger’ boasts a riff as incessant as it is funky. As always, Benedic Lamdin’s drums are a masterstroke; rattling off a hard, upbeat rhythm with a loose swing.
This single is a document of the early, funk-driven Nostalgia 77 sound – before Ben began exploring his passion for free jazz.
