A dark and imposing, yet strangely compelling 7” single taken from the Nostalgia 77 album, ‘Songs For My Funeral’.

Hands forced deep into pockets with head bowed and eyes cast down towards the tarmac. ‘Rain Walk’ weaves its way through cold unforgiving streets. Pianos strung with tension and aggressive guitars make way for rugged drums and strings as refined as they are menacing. Percussion rattles like chains and saxophones shriek with fright.

‘Thing’ releases all the tension of the A side with a good old dancefloor workout. Will (Quantic) Holland guests on horns, locked in a downwardly spiralling battle with Benedic Lamdin’s bass and guitar.

“With haunting strings and heavy funk drums, this sounds like a spy thriller scored by Quincy Jones and Bernard Purdie. Expect big things from Nostalgia ‘s debut LP ‘Songs For My Funeral.”
Dazed & Confused

“Nostalgia has a real talent for making the tunes into an atmosphere rather than a clever collection of beats. This 7” lays down the Avalanches, beats Blue-Note silly, echoes the best of P-Funk and puts DJ Shadow to shame”
Record Collector

“This spooky lil downbeat head-nodder boasts hip hop beats, generous guitars and nice key riffs. The flipside gets busy on the funk with heavy, heavy beats and a mad groove that could make a corpse move. Funky? You better believe it!”

Ben Lamdin’s creations range from heavy funk, to hip-hop based beats mixed with dusty old jazz, obscuro funk and psych bits and pieces.
