Juanita Bonita
“Juanita Bonita” is the final instalment in the trio of limited edition 7”s from Quantic’s deep, tropical dub inspired project, Quantic Presenta Flowering Inferno.
The album, “Death Of The Revolution” has had major radio play and support so far from Mark Lamarr and Gilles Peterson among other tastemakers around the world, and is capturing people’s imaginations with its hazy, summery sound that gets deeper with every listen.
“Juanita Bonita” is a melodic slice of perfection, with mellow drums and double bass. The evocative piano part is played by legendary Peruvian pianist Alfredo Linares who put in a series of show-stealing performances when he appeared in the UK for the first time as part of The Quantic Soul Orchestra’s tour in March.
On the flip, you’ll find “Dub Del Pacifico”. With a full vocal sung in Spanish, this song is a departure from the breezy feel of the A side, with a more hard-edged sound and a deeper dub influence, featuring traditional Colombian instruments, and Edgardo Manuel on trombone.
The unstoppable crate-digger Will “Quantic” Holland has shown yet again that no matter what style of music he decides to turn his hand to – or how far around the world he travels to find the inspiration or the guest musicians – the end product will be a powerful and authentic take, with that original and idiosyncratic Quantic twist.
