The first single taken from Quantic’s third album features the vocal talents of Spanky Wilson, famed for her late-60s cover of Cream’s ‘Sunshine Of Your Love’.

Will Holland first tracked the legendary US soul singer down via France to her home in LA. ‘Don’t Joke With A Hungry Man’ was written especially for Spanky and it was the success of this session that led to Will and Spanky collaborating again on the 2006 QSO album, ‘I’m Thankful’.

The EP also features ‘Furthest Moment’, which finds Quantic heading into future funk/broken beat territory.

“Continuing the vanguard for everything retro and funkified, Will Holland comes correct once again with another nugget of retro mania. Don’t Joke With A Hungry Man has all the hallmarks of a crate-diggers wet dream: a super-sharp break, rolling bassline, immaculate Philly strings, vibes Mr Ayers would be proud of and some super tight horns. Add into the mix the distinctive vocals of the one and only Spanky Wilson and you’ve got yourself one bona fide slice of 21st century funk. Slick as Rick and twice as smooth!”
DJ Magazine

“Gutsy, rough, ragged and raw funk. Heavy on the drums and bass and designed to get people dancing, which it does… and then some”
DMC Update

“Boy oh Boy, what a cut! A funky groove with an Afro tint that creates a gorgeous bed for the one and only Spanky Wilson to lay her vocal gold over”
