When Shapes Join Together 1
Influenced and inspired by the sounds of Robert Luis’ Shake Your Wig and Vibes Express club nights, ‘When Shapes Join Together’ was Tru Thoughts first ever compilation album.
Only 1000 CDs and 500 vinyl copies were manufactured, making it very hard to come by these days.
Joining the dots between party-rockin’ hip hop, instrumental beat-mongery, after-hours chillism and Latino flavas without ever taking itself too seriously, this fifteen-strong selection features early cuts by some familiar faces.
Ninja Tunes’ golden boy Bonobo makes his first ever appearance here alongside (Chris) Clark, who went on to sign with Warp Records.
Elsewhere, DJ Format drops some dextrous cuts and scratches on ‘Where You Been’ by Quiet Storm; and if Cairo’s contribution to the album sounds familiar, that’s because it was sampled by Fatboy Slim for his remix of Groove Armada’s ‘I See You Baby’.
