Common Ground (Azido 88 Remix)
Anchorsong

Released: 8 Nov 2022

Label: Tru Thoughts

Anchorsong’s ‘Common Ground’ receives a euphoric remix from lo-fi producer Azido 88.

London-based Japanese producer Anchorsong followed his critically acclaimed fourth album ‘Mirage’ with a selection of remixes from the likes of Tech Support, Hemai and Hinako Omori. The most recent in this series is from Taiwan-based, UK-born, lo-fi producer Azido 88, who takes the rhythmically-laden ‘Common Ground’ and fuses boom-bap, funk-elements while complementing the soulful, euphoric elements of the original. The remix coincides with Anchorsong announcing an Autumn 2022 Japan tour with dates in Hamamatsu, Kyoto, Kobe and Tokyo.

Talking about the remix Anchorsong says: “This remix by Azido 88 reminds me of the music I was in love with when I put my hands on MPC for the first time. The sense of nostalgia deepens the melancholic side of the track, yet also keeps it wonderfully vibrant and uplifting.”

Azido 88 is a lofi hip-hop producer, DJ and finger drummer, with releases on some of the biggest lofi labels. His tracks have been supported by the likes of DJ Yoda, Krafty Kuts, Naeleck, Soul of Man, Skeewiff, and BBC Introducing, with his finger drumming skills also praised by Jeremy Ellis and Native Instruments. As a DJ, he has toured around the world, performing across 18 countries and has been DJing and producing under various names for over half of his life. He is also co-founder of the award-winning international Bass Kitchen club night, which fuses together multiple styles of electronic music. “I’m a big fan of Anchorsong’s mellow, melodic sound and his unique style of music. I first discovered him through his live performance videos using an MPC, and was blown away.” Azidio 88 adds.
