Released: 2nd Dec, 2012
Label: Tru Thoughts
“Mucky”, out 3rd December on Tru Thoughts, is the second single from the self-titled album by Sleepin’ Giantz – aka Zed Bias, Rodney P and Fallacy, three true giants of UK music. Joining the dots between hip hop, house, grime, dubstep and garage, the album came out earlier this year to major props from the likes of Benji B (BBC R1), MistaJam (1Xtra/R1) Sinden (KISS), DJ Q (1Xtra), The Heatwave (Rinse FM), Clash, Resident Advisor, Q, Fact, XLR8R, and many more.
This single release was announced with an interview on MistaJam’s BBC 1Xtra show and a video launch on SB.TV, on Halloween, tying in with the zombie theme of the video and the underlying staccato grimey menace of the track, which was highlighted in many reviews as one of the standout hits from the album. The Sleepin’ Giantz project sees Zed Bias (the main musical alter-ego of Manchester based producer Dave Jones – pioneer of breakbeat garage and much loved by BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac among others) joining forces with two MCs: Rodney P (the London Posse man widely regarded as the Godfather of British hip hop) and Fallacy, often described as the missing link between UK hip hop and grime. Shattering genre divides throughout the gamut of UK bass music and beyond, the ‘Sleepin’ Giantz’ album has been widely hailed as a masterclass from these three UK heavyweights, with guest spots from MC Fox and vocalist Jenna G, who also have cameos in the “Mucky” video.
The single features the “Mucky” original, as well as the killer a cappella and instrumental versions, with a clean edit for radio play on the promo.
